The vibrant sun rises above the horizon,
painting the world gold,
the fresh morning dew glistens
the plains dance in the wind,
the corn grows in rows,
not a cloud to be seen,
here in Nebraska,
we can't be beat,
here in Nebraska,
we can be free.

It means smart, brave, adventurous
It is the number 5
It is like deep, cool, flowing, clear, clean
It is laughing with each other
It is the memory of Amy
Who taught me respect and honesty
When she heals my hurt
My name is Allyson
It means God is always with you

Determination means the willingness to pursue your goals. Examples of determination from Blindsight is that the kids were determined to reach the top of the summit even though it seemed impossible. It didn’t matter if they made it to the top, all that mattered was the effort put into it. Examples of my determination is when I was afraid to ride a horse, but I was determined to get up in the saddle and ride. The difference between the impossible and the possible lies in a person’s determination

When you think of freedom, what do you think of? Perhaps you believe it is a given right or it was earned without sacrifice. Well neither are correct because freedom isn’t free. Take a minute to think of what it means, make personal connections, and think of ways that others have earned your freedom and gave away their lives defending you and America.
What is the true meaning of freedom? Does freedom mean that you can do anything you want or is freedom the rights you have? Well, the truth is that freedom is the rights the veterans have earned through treacherous war. Freedom comes with sacrifice, a price to pay. Freedom is the right to create your own future.
In my opinion, to understand the term ‘freedom’ you may have to make your own personal connections. I believe that freedom is a harsh price to pay to those who serve. I know that the veterans make a sacrifice, or give away their own lives to fight for our country and our freedom. The throw away their future so you can have one.
What are some examples of freedom? Freedom of speech, the right to vote, freedom to practice your own religion? Of course! You have the right to vote, because of the lives lost. Each are a great example of your freedom. Each are equally important. In some countries they don’t have the rights that most Americans do. So, be thankful for the rights that you have.
So, remember to be a little considerate of those who serve you. Show a little respect, because they deserve it. Don’t forget to think of what freedom means, what it does for your future, and make a mental list of examples of your freedom. Take under consideration of supporting the veterans who sacrificed so much, because again, they deserve it.

The Legend of Herobrine
Have you ever heard of the legendary Herobrine? If you do, you would know that Herobrine has haunted OHS for approximately two years, but nobody knows. Legend has it that he stays in one spot throughout the day, a place that is supposedly called Mod 2. Some claim that they have seen him, although they have not. No one knows exactly what he looks like, but I do.
I see him almost every day, despite the fact that everybody else doesn’t. He is very quiet; in fact I have never heard him speak before. He is a very horrifying character. He wears a blue shirt with tattered, purple pants, and he wears normal grey shoes. One thing that came a shock to me is that he has no colors in his eyes. He also has brown hair. He is a careless person and can be rude and impolite.
Sometimes if you are lucky, you can hear Herobrine moaning. Some say that he is a deceased miner who had dug to far down and fell to the center of the Earth. No one knows exactly how he came to be. He haunts those who deny that he exists. He is strange to me because he can teleport to any destination of his choosing. He is generally a horrific character. He is a mystifying creature that doesn’t intend to leave.

Eng 7 Period 3
As I wandered into the Great Hall, I saw lightning, and heard roaring thunder crackle. Above my head were floating pumpkins. I sensed magic in the air. I immediately knew this would indeed be a fantastic feast. The hall was gigantic and unrealistic. Out of nowhere a swarm of midnight black bats flew from their hiding places. I heard some kind of echoing or moaning coming from the far distance. Their was a strong, pungent smell. The candles up above left a burning smell to the sweet corn. The air seemed musty and tightly packed, I could hardly breathe. Instead of making a big deal of the strange sounds and smells, I centered my attention on the Great Hall. Suddenly I noticed little white ghosts floating about. I wondered why I hadn’t seen them before. Everything seemed as if it was from a different dimension.
Finally, we sat down to enjoy the feast. I noticed that the lustrous, golden plates were empty. This made me think for what seemed like an eternity, until the chattering ceased, and silence followed. What happened next came a shock to me. A man stood in his chair and announced “ Let the feast begin!” Suddenly, the plates magically filled themselves with endless amounts of tender, mouth- watering food. There was tons of turkey, chicken, pumpkin pie, cookies, beef, pork, and mashed potatoes and gravy. I had a tough time deciding what to try first. I decided to try the turkey and the chicken first. Wow! I slowly eat the food, in order to make sure that I don’t make a fool of myself. Everyone at the table eats quietly, so I do the same. No need for any unwanted attention anyway. After I have respectfully eaten, and kept quiet the games and activities begin.
As I look around I see kids playing games that I am unfamiliar with. Many of the midnight bats have disappeared and the little white ghosts are gone and the pumpkins floating above me are gone as well. This is a shock to me. Although I’m not sure why all these events have occurred in this short amount of time, I decide to join in on some of the activities that I did when I was younger. I also see children riding on a witch’s broom stick across the ceiling of the Great Hall. Suddenly, all the candles that were lit throughout the feast, were blown out. Now the Great Hall was pitch black. I no longer heard the squeaking of the midnight bats. At first I was worried, then I remembered that this was the beginning of the next activity. I relieved myself from all worry and played flashlight tag with the other children. Soon the activities were over and the feast came to an official end. I returned home and told everyone of my experience, but I will never forget the unforgettable Hogwarts Halloween Feast.

Today is Dot Day. I can't say I would relate to the story; I am pretty good at drawing. At first, I was bad at drawing, then my mom encouraged me to keep practicing, so I did. I improved, day by day. If it wasn't for my mom who had pushed me to keep trying, I wouldn't of become a successful drawer. I am thankful for the story of "the dot".

English 7 - Period 3
An Unforgettable School Day
Have you ever wondered how you could avoid going to school without pretending to be sick? I have. In fact, on this particular day, early in the month of August, I learned how to do it. It was the first day of fifth grade, so I had new teachers. I was fairly nervous, even though I had been in this old school for many years. I was uncertain about how things would work, or how I would get along with my teachers, so I did something I would eventually regret.
Simply put, I was afraid to go to school. The new teachers really threw me off. I didn’t know them so I was terrified. I was already ten, so I was getting used to my classmates. I figured the teachers would be strict and harsh. Later on I discovered the truth. I had my doubts and regrets on that day, but soon it would all be over with.
As I walked slowly off of the front porch, I didn’t say a word. Then, I silently sat in my usual place in the car . After the car pulled out of the driveway, I sat there lost in thought and terror as she pulled up to the school. My cousins and sister proudly walked out of the car, ready for a new school day, as I sat reluctantly in the seat. The door shut as we drove away. After awhile, the car came to a stop in my grandma’s driveway. I didn’t dare move.
Not long after she left the desolate car I had noticed that she had finally found me hiding in the back seat, so I sat as still as a statue. All she wanted to do was convince me to go to school and comfort my nervous feelings. She opened the door next to me and asked me why I wasn’t at school, I explained everything as quickly as I could. She eventually convinced me to go back to school, and I had a great first day in fifth grade.
In the end, I had learned a valuable lesson, don’t hide from the good things in your life. Of course, when I returned from school, word had gotten around that I had been afraid to go to school. When my mom was finished with daycare, we talked it over, and I decided that I would always try my best and school, and from then on, I learned to just go with the flow of things in class.

Here is my room, providing memories and comfort at the end of a long day. The dressers that are brand new, hold many treasures. These dressers hide my secrets as if they were treasure chests. My bed, made with a soft material, almost as soft as a field of grass; like sleeping on a cloud. The curtains that vibrantly sway above the bed are too silky to touch. They are pink, allowing the night sky, the stars, and the moonlight to peer through, only to see a vastly empty room.
On top of the dressers lies a small, black TV. It is not a flat screen, but instead it is one of those older TV’s. It may be old but it works like a charm, with every movie shown in full colors. Just next to the TV are three, clean, crystal fish bowls. Inside are the Betta Fish. The three fish glow like shooting stars dashing across the night sky. They are gray with little blue linings on their scales. Right next to the the fish is a lamp which was inherited from my mom. The lamp sits by the fish so, when ever I turn it on, it makes the little fish seem to gleam. I am rich beyond measure.
